Therapists for college students near Nashville, TN
I love working with people facing challenges in their relationships, whether romantic or otherwise. My goal is to help you identify what you truly want, where you encounter obstacles, and to help you address any self-imposed obstacles. We'll work together to make change happen fast so that what you want is more likely to become reality. I won’t just nod along, so if you're looking for someone who doesn't skirt around the issues, you're on the right profile. I have experience working with a with a variety of concerns, including but not limited to: relationship distress, mood disorders, anxiety, impulsive behavior, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, maladaptive perfectionism, and teens at risk for personality disorders. I'm well-versed in both DBT and RO-DBT, both of which shape my approach to therapy. I have been intensively trained in Radically-Open DBT (RO-DBT), a specialized treatment for Chronic Depression, Anorexia-Nervosa, and disorders of Over-Control (OC). Our practice, PSYCHē, is a private network of therapists across multiple states. Our job is to pair our clients with great clinicians all over the country. PSYCHē also offers various Standard DBT groups and Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT) skills classes online ranging from $100-$125. Groups are like a class, not therapy. New members can begin right away! Visit www.psychepllc/groups for more information about groups, meeting times, or to enroll online.
Most of the students I work with are figuring out who they are while juggling school, family, friendships, and their future. Many feel the weight of being “the strong one” for everyone else, but behind closed doors they’re tired, anxious, or questioning if they’re enough. Some are navigating being away from home for the first time, carrying family expectations, or balancing the pressure to succeed with the need to just breathe. Others feel out of place on campus and want a space where they don’t have to explain themselves or code-switch. I connect best with young people under 25 who are ready for honest conversations, who value a therapist that will both listen deeply and challenge them to grow. My goal is to give you room to unpack your story, understand your emotions, and figure out how to move through stress, relationships, and identity with more clarity and confidence.

I became a therapist to help individuals make sense of their experiences and navigate life's challenges. I’m passionate about facilitating meaningful change that reduces isolation and strengthens coping with pain, stress, and trauma. I believe therapy benefits everyone and that all individuals deserve a space where they feel heard, understood, and safe. I accept self-pay clients (college age) for telehealth and in-person visits and am in-network with many insurers. I currently accept the following, including Medicaid/TennCare (TN), Medicare (TN), Aetna, WellPoint/Amerigroup, Blue Cross Blue Shield (Commercial & Medicaid), Tricare, Ambetter, UHC Commercial and Medicaid, and WellCare. Clients describe me as empathetic, understanding, encouraging, and attentive; I provide safe, nonjudgmental support while fostering growth by building trust, meeting you where you are, and treating the whole person—ensuring you feel heard, validated, and understood. My primary objective is to treat the whole person using an affirming, strengths‑based approach that helps each client feel empowered, respected, and seen. I believe everyone possesses talents and skills that can be mobilized to overcome obstacles and achieve meaningful goals. College, graduate school, and early adulthood can be exciting, but they can also feel overwhelming. You may be struggling with stress, anxiety, low mood, loneliness, relationship challenges, questions about your identity, or the pressure to keep up academically while managing everything else in your life. For some students, adjusting to life away from home, navigating independence, or recovering from difficult experiences such as trauma, sexual assault, or substance use concerns can make this time especially challenging. At Modern Talk, we specialize in working with college students, graduate students, and emerging adults. Our clinicians understand the unique demands of this stage of life and have extensive experience helping students navigate both everyday stressors and more complex emotional challenges. Several members of our team have worked within university counseling settings, including New York University's Wellness Exchange, supporting students through academic, social, and personal transitions. Whether you're looking for support during a difficult period, trying to better understand yourself, or hoping to build healthier coping skills and relationships, we're here to help. We provide a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where you can talk openly, gain insight, and develop tools to navigate challenges with greater confidence and resilience.

With nearly 20 years of experience as a mental health counselor, I bring a compassionate, easy-going approach to therapy, creating a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their challenges and build resilience. My practice integrates evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-focused interventions, to address a wide range of mental health concerns. I am particularly passionate about the role of mindfulness and mindfulness meditation in emotional regulation, stress reduction, and personal growth. By incorporating these practices, I help individuals cultivate self-awareness, manage distress, and develop healthier coping strategies. Whether working through anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions, my goal is to empower clients with the tools they need to navigate life’s complexities with greater clarity and confidence. My therapeutic style is warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative. I believe in meeting clients where they are, tailoring treatment to their unique needs, and fostering a sense of balance and well-being.
Many of the students I work with are navigating a lot internally—stress, anxiety, self-doubt, or feeling unsure about their path. You might find yourself overthinking, putting pressure on yourself to have everything figured out, or struggling in relationships while trying to balance it all. You may look like you’re doing fine on the outside, but feel overwhelmed or stuck underneath. You don’t have to have everything figured out. If you’re open to growing, gaining clarity, and building a stronger relationship with yourself, we’d likely work well together.
Hi there! We are an outpatient practice offering in-person and virtual appointments. We specialize in working with those navigating the tricky terrain of growing up—dealing with friendship shifts, school pressure, big emotions, and the journey of self-discovery. Many of the clients who find us describe themselves as high-performing yet often struggling with things such as: suspected or diagnosed ADHD, chronic anxiety, burnout, and who are seeking balance amidst life's demands. Their work often centers on identity exploration, navigating interpersonal relationships, building self-esteem, developing a more compassionate relationship with their bodies and food, and adapting to life transitions. Together, we explore how anxiety shows up, how boundaries can feel empowering, and what it looks like to build relationships (with yourself and others) that feel safe, reciprocal, and genuine. Wherever you are in your life journey, we are here to come along side you and support you in the next steps. We truly believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship. We encourage you to reach out for a consultation call to determine how we can best support you and answer any questions you might have about the therapy process.
I am a licensed mental health counselor in Tennessee and California, and I provide therapy virtually to students in both states. I work with people who are dealing with things like stress, difficult transitions and circumstances, traumatic events, relationship problems, grief, discrimination, and systemic marginalization. I specialize in working with people seeking recovery from the abuse they experienced in their families, intimate relationships, workplaces, religious and faith communities, and also survivors of cults and other high-demand/control groups. Additionally, I work with those who are living with mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, suicide risk, and post-traumatic stress disorder. I also specialize in working with people seeking recovery from substance use, and I welcome clients who are active substance users. I enjoy working with clients from diverse backgrounds and strive to create a safe, affirming space for the LGBTQ+ community, people of color, disabled individuals, and other marginalized groups. Being a military spouse myself, I am honored to work with active military members, their families, and veterans. Feel free to check out my website to learn more about my experience and specialties. Those who work with me can expect to experience a safe and supportive space. My approach is very down-to-earth, and I aim to use research-backed therapy interventions in a way that’s accessible and helpful. I believe no two people need the same approach. There is no universal formula for creating positive change. Your path is your own. The job of a counselor is to help you find your footing and support you on your unique journey. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if we’re a good fit. Please reach out to get that scheduled, or if you have any questions you’d like to ask first.
