My name is Savi and I’m a licensed clinical social worker in private practice. I have a particular interest in working with students as much of my clinical experience is in working with people in their teens and early 20’s who are going through the big life changes that happen at these times. There is so much to navigate during this time in life with academic demands, becoming more independent from our families, and starting new relationships. There are many reasons we are drawn to start therapy, but I find it is often because we are struggling with difficult feelings related to these things that we may not understand and don’t know how to get rid of. I think it’s important that you have a safe place to talk about these feelings and for us to begin to understand what is underneath them.

My intention as a psychotherapist is to create a safe and supportive environment in which people can learn and share more about themselves, and in so doing, ease their suffering and create possibilities of positive movement and change in their lives. I am grounded in a relational and psychodynamic approach. This means that I am attuned to building a respectful interactive relationship, and that I bring an awareness of the deep impact of the past on people's present lives. My practice is diverse, with a specialization in trauma focused psychotherapy. Other areas of expertise are the treatment of depression, grief and loss, anxiety, relational issues, emotional regulation, and difficulties with family of origin.

Do you find yourself stuck in the same unhealthy cycles despite your efforts to change? I can help. As an active and empathic therapist with fifteen years of experience, I believe in getting to the root of someone's difficulties. Together we will identify your feelings and patterns of behavior, understand the life events that impact your current experience, and enhance your inner resources for achieving your goals. I work with individuals, couples, and families who are experiencing anxiety, depression, interpersonal problems, and major life transitions. I draw from my psychodynamic training at NYU, postgraduate psychoanalytic certification, and the use of evidence-based interventions (including cognitive behavioral therapy) aimed at relieving distress, increasing coping tools, and improving your quality of life. Finding a good fit is essential when working with any therapist. I offer a brief telephone consultation that allows us to discuss your goals and to decide whether I am the right person to help you accomplish them. Feel free to contact me by telephone at (914) 830-9171, or send me a message by clicking here.

Hi there! Have you ever felt like your thoughts are racing but the words just won't come out? Have you ever felt the anxiety of overthinking and overanalyzing? Or that despite knowing what you “should” do, making changes feels overwhelming? Perhaps you're navigating the complexities of interpersonal relationships, cultural identity, family expectations, or that persistent feeling that no one quite understands your experience. I want you to know that these feelings are deeply valid, and you're not alone in this journey. Taking this first step toward healing shows incredible courage, and thank you for considering sharing your story with me. I'm Toni, a first-year Master's student in Social Work at Columbia University, building upon my foundation in my bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology from NYU. I believe in creating a genuine and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself. My approach combines warmth and gentle humor with practical strategies, creating a space where both healing and growth can flourish. While my foundation combines client-centered therapy with CBT and an existential approach, I believe in adapting therapeutic approaches to what works best for you. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach, I draw from various modalities to create a personalized therapeutic experience that aligns with your needs and goals. Together, we'll work on transforming overwhelming thoughts into manageable steps, building confidence in your decisions, and helping you feel more grounded in who you are. As a 1.5 generation Asian American therapist-in-training, I bring both professional training and personal understanding to our sessions, especially when it comes to navigating cultural expectations, family dynamics, and the unique pressures of straddling multiple identities. I create a trauma-informed, culturally affirming space where you can explore these experiences openly and draw strength from your heritage. Your story matters, and I'm here to listen with empathy, understanding, and zero judgment. Let's collaborate on your journey toward healing and self-discovery, celebrating each step forward while honoring your unique experiences and strengths. Toni Yu is a therapist-in-training at Sol Health. Sol Health is a digital health startup that offers $30 therapy to Gen Zs by connecting them with therapists-in-training accruing clinical hours.

New York, NY

Mission Liberation Psychotherapy is a private group therapy practice located in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City. Our foundational philosophy is based on the meaningful engagement between the therapist and client and achieved using Carl Rogers’ client-centered techniques of active-listening, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. Liberation Psychotherapy’s primary mission is to help clients explore their experiences thereby clients can heal and grow and embrace their strengths and resiliencies. To honor and respect the uniqueness of our clients, we subscribe broadly to a liberation and integrative model because our attention is drawn to the interplay of the clients’ identities and environments. Liberation is understood through the complex realities and histories in which we are living/having lived through: sociopolitical, economic, cultural. With an integrative approach, our therapists collaborate with clients on which treatment modalities may benefit them and can include: affirmative, bibliotherapy, client-centered, cognitive behavior, creative arts, dialectical behavior therapy, existential, holistic, narrative, psychodynamic, sexology, spiritual, and trauma.

Welcome! I am a clinical psychologist and drama therapist, seeing individuals and couples in New York. I work with adults and teens ages 15+. Clients I work with are often seeking to reduce distress, trust themselves more, and feel more equipped in their life journeys. A primary aim of treatment is to increase self-awareness and connection to the body, freeing a more expansive self, and allowing old patterns and obstacles (i.e. emotional avoidance, self-criticism) to melt away. Therapy can help reveal how your past is impacting your present, which often leads to self-compassion, and healing and change in the present. Perhaps you are wanting to feel more comfortable with the unknown, whether that be challenging emotions, uncertainty about the future, or existential questions, like what is the meaning of my one precious life? We are living through uncertain times collectively and individually, and therapy with me is a space where these questions are welcomed. I believe the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of healing, and I show up in the room with warmth and authenticity. My approach is integrative. I have advanced training in an attachment-based psychodynamic approach called Interpersonal Reconstructive Therapy, and in experiential, creative, somatic-based approaches including drama therapy and internal family systems. I also practice mindfulness and am an artist myself, and this informs the work I do. My approach is person-centered, which means I adapt treatment based on the unique individual(s) I am sitting with. I have extensive experience in working with LGBTQ+ clients, those with a history of trauma, folks navigating illness, and other healers and artists. I am part of Mount Sinai Health Partners, and remain involved in training of doctoral trainees at Mount Sinai. I am presently on the faculty of the NYU Masters in Drama Therapy program, and was previously an Assistant Professor in the Psychiatry Department at Mount Sinai. I have worked and trained in hospitals, including in adult and adolescent transgender healthcare, in outpatient centers, Veterans hospitals, and counseling centers.

I believe that therapy is a tool for fixing interpersonal problems, helping with painful life situations, tackling the "tough stuff", helping fine tune relationships, and getting back on the road to success in life. Sometimes things don't quite work out as planned and a time of transition can become a major life challenge. My role is to help identify the most difficult parts of this change and to support you so you can move into these new phases with greater support and confidence.” I have over twenty years of multifaceted clinical experience working successfully with clients of different age, gender, religion, culture and personality. My therapeutic experience with clients includes a broad range of issues including depression, mood disorders, past trauma, anxiety, stress grief, loss, intimacy, communication skills, self-esteem and body image, personal growth and life transitions. Therapy is an invitation to be messy, to dive into the unknown, to shed layers and come home to your truest self and aspirations with a sense of ease and belonging. Therapy is a safe, compassionate, non-judgemental space to explore, practice and play with challenging emotions, life patterns and memories that have shaped our internal world. Terceira is a New York University trained psychotherapist that specializes in treating anxiety, depression, complex grief, trauma, identity, career and life transitions. They serve a diverse clientele that ranges across race, age, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and spiritual backgrounds. Terceira has experience serving survivors of various traumas and PTSD both globally and in New York City. They also have supervised private therapists as well as Masters of Social Work students from Columbia, NYU, Fordham, and Hunter University in their clinical studies. They blend their intersectional, trauma-informed lenses with rich somatic (body based) approaches, mindfulness techniques and EMDR (Eye Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing) to build upon the resiliency of their clients’ healing. They believe in orchestrating a dialogue between the body and the mind for a deeper release of past sufferings to be able to be in the present. Through integrative therapy, Terceira hopes their clients find they have individual choices, agency, and empowerment in their communication, relationships, boundaries, identities, and self-worth.
