Therapists for college students near Portland, OR
I know the deep darkness of anxiety and depression. I am now happier and healthier and it is my passion to work alongside you to offer the support and guidance in your healing journey. I specialize in helping women reclaim their identity and find safety within themselves again. Using EMDR and somatic-based tools, we don't just talk about the past; we work to release it from your nervous system. In addition to EMDR, I integrate somatic-based practices, including gentle yoga and mindfulness techniques, when appropriate. By incorporating body-based awareness and movement, clients often experience a deeper sense of calm, grounding, and connection to themselves.

I am so excited to offer both counseling and clinical supervision services within my practice. I have over 20 years of experience as a therapist. I have worked extensively in community behavioral health settings and have a wealth of experience to share with licensee's. I believe that people are resilient and that being alongside a person through their own individual journey is a sacred honor. I work with clients to strengthen and foster healing, growth, health and wellness. My theoretical framework is person centered and I tailor my interventions to the individual client. I have a passion for assisting my clients to reach a state of peacefulness after years of battling their bodies. To actively live everyday with compassion and love for their body, mind and spirit. To heal, be present and take joy in being alive as a perfectly imperfect human being. I use a HAES (health at every size) approach. I work from a positive psychology and trauma informed lens and I use techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and motivational interviewing. I hold unconditional positive regard for all people and strive to create a healing environment that is safe, accepting and affirming.

I am delighted to introduce you to my therapy practice, where I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ individuals. As we navigate the diverse and dynamic landscape of human experiences, it is essential to recognize that each person's journey is unique. LGBTQIA+-identifying individuals often face distinctive challenges and opportunities that can significantly impact their mental and emotional well-being. My practice is dedicated to providing a safe, affirming, and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and identity without judgment or prejudice.
Are you dealing with an issue related to sex, sexuality, or relationships and in need of a knowledgeable, non-judgemental space to sort through it all? Are struggles with body image, self-esteem, or life transitions making you (or a teen in your life) want to tear your hair or hide under a rock? Are you dealing with grief over losing a person, pet, or role that was dear to you? If you answered "yes" to any of the above, we're a good fit for each other! My approach is compassionate and realistic. I want you to be heard and have the space to process your feelings and experiences while also working toward some form of resolution. If you're seeking support on something related to sex or death, I'm your girl. I have over a decade of experience supporting people on issues of sex, sexuality, and relationships. On the grief end of things, I'm a death doula and certified grief counselor. This all adds up to a comfort topics that it can feel extra-difficult or taboo to seek support for.
My clients are exhausted and overwhelmed like you. They are tired of doing their best to keep all these balls (school, work, parenting, relationships, self-care, health and wellbeing, sleep + more) up in the air (even though admittedly they are pretty darn good at it). But when they inevitably drop a few because something else pops up or they get tired, life feels messy and they are quick to place judgements on themselves. My clients are expert problem solvers and doers, who in the face of stress, just keep going. Some are the type of person who the people in their life lean on for support. Some have tried a number of ways to fix or problem solve their way our of their emotions or exhaustion. They find their coping to work for a little bit but aren't moving them towards the life they imagined for themselves. Some realize they aren't sure they can keep up with all of what needs to be done to feel "okay". When some of my clients do take time for themselves or the rest they need, their mind struggles with feeling guilty, worrying about what they "should" be doing for work/school/person (fill in the blank with any responsibility). I help my clients get clearer on their wants, needs, and values while addressing some of the downfalls that come with always doing, fixing, and over functioning. I approach my work with clients through use of Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Somatic Experiencing. These two approaches help support internal reflection and clarity along with experiential, skills-based, and mindfulness practices.
With over 12 years of experience, I specialize in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I don't just provide a space for you to vent; I help you learn how to relate differently to your thoughts and emotions, respond in flexible ways that move beyond just surviving, and take concrete steps toward a life that actually feels meaningful to you. I offer a compassionate, collaborative, and dynamic approach to make therapy feel thoughtful, practical, and engaging.

Our world can be a scary place. It is no wonder so many of us are anxious and scared. At the same time, many of us have learned to respond to stressful and uncertain situations in ways that, while understandable, are unhelpful and can manifest as Anxiety, Fear, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders. In my therapy practice, I help people learn new ways to respond to their physiology, the challenges in their lives, and the anxiety they feel. As a psychologist, my first and most important goal is to help you feel seen and understood. You are doing the best you can with the brain you have, the tools you have learned, and the challenges you are facing, and the shame, embarrassment, and/or anger that manifests when you feel misunderstood becomes its own problem that can get in the way of change. Next, I want to help you develop more helpful tools to navigate the world, in ways that are grounded in self-knowledge, self-compassion, and self-confidence. I want to help you discover what really matters to you, and learn to take steps toward a life full of meaning, even when anxiety and/or OCD get in the way. We don’t have to wait for our mental health to be perfect to live full and meaningful lives.
It is important to me that when we meet, you feel like you are connecting with another human being who deeply cares about your emotional world and sincerely wants to understand the challenges you may be facing. Therapy is a space for you to slow down, pause, and reconnect with the strength that already resides within you. I combine my professional knowledge and experience with a genuine desire to create a warm, authentic environment that fosters trust and allows you to explore what matters most. I feel privileged to support you in your healing process, and I am committed to breaking down the traditional hierarchy that can sometimes exist between therapist and client. I have always been fascinated by the human experience—how we interact with others, ourselves, and the world around us. My own personal growth journey and how I have overcome adversity in my life, is a core part of who I am and have become, and it helps me show up for you in a meaningful, empathetic way. I am grateful to witness the growth and resilience of my clients, and I’m particularly passionate about helping those who may be held back by fear or shame. My goal is to support you in confidently stepping into your full potential, believing in yourself, and living authentically. I am also passionate about social justice, including anti-racism, intersectional feminism, LGBTQI rights, body and sex positivity, mindfulness, nature, and radical autonomy. I hold a Master’s in Education in Couples and Family Therapy from the University of Oregon and have been a licensed therapist since 2009. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Oregon, I look at the “systems” that influence our lives, whether cultural, familial, or relational, and how they shape the difficulties we experience. In my practice, I work with individuals, couples, and families, helping each person navigate their unique challenges and move towards the life they want to create. I specialize in a wide range of difficulties someone may be facing including pregnancy and postpartum challenges, relationship issues, women survivors, sexuality and personal identity and more. I also specialize in anxiety, stress, self-esteem/self-worth, life changes and transitions and trauma. I am a trauma-informed and trauma-sensitive therapist.

I was raised in Oregon and returned a year ago after spending decades in the Washington, DC area. My first career was in international education, where I worked as an Assistant Director in the International Services Office. I have extensive experience and interest in working with immigrants, POC, and first-generation U.S. Americans. I worked in college counseling centers during my doctoral training and I continue to enjoy seeing undergraduate and graduate students in addition to people throughout the lifespan. I've worked with a lot of law students & lawyers. I offer individual, couple, group and family therapy. I will meet you where you are with compassion and seek to help you manage difficult life situations, transitions, and mental health struggles so you can live more fully and joyfully. I work in an in-depth, relational way, employing curiosity and gentle, intuitive feedback that often helps people to begin to make positive changes.
Telehealth and in person offered Mon-Thur Telehealth only on Friday
I enjoy working with folks who are navigating issues of anxiety, depression, ADHD, perfectionism, emotion regulation, grief, stress management, or relationship dynamics & communication skills. Therapy can also be a great place to receive support from a neutral person not already involved in your life, potentially to help develop self-awareness, self-confidence, or explore your future goals & plans. I especially enjoy working with University students who are pursuing their Masters or PhD degrees in Graduate School, though I also work with many Undergrad students adjusting to college life as well. Additionally, I have experience with student athletes & the intersection of mental health with sports performance.
