I work with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, burnout, compassion fatigue, and socioeconomical, environmental and climate concerns. I work with individuals that want to put the work into improving the quality of their lives and finding balance within their core values, beliefs, self-worth, interpersonal relationships, work/college, leisure time, time outdoors, and lifestyle. I work with individuals on identifying the disruption in these areas of their lives that come from stressors, distorted ways of thinking, unhealthy habits and behaviors, isolation, and a disengagement from the natural world. I specialize in CBT and ecotherapy walk and talk model. CBT is goal oriented and focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thinking and behavior. Ecotherapy, also known as nature based therapy, utilizes nature to benefit from its healing capabilities. I integrate the two approaches which allows for increased growth and insight to find balance.

To help explore sources of current imbalances, I see people holistically, within the contexts of their lives and as parts of larger structures and systems that constantly impact their health. A background as a Master Certified Health Coach and certified teacher of a somatic mindfulness based practice since 2010 informs my whole-person wellness approach to counseling and therapy. While completing my graduate degree in clinical mental health counseling, I received training and offered counseling at Portland State University in the Community Counseling Clinic and at the Student Health and Counseling Center (SHAC) where I held individual counseling sessions, offered group psychoeducation and co-facilitated group therapy for social anxiety and group counseling for international students navigating transitions and cultural complexities. Psychotherapeutic Approaches: Trauma informed, relational, humanistic-existential and psychodynamic. Depending on each person’s needs, tools from different modalities can be used including: EMDR, somatic interventions, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Brief Psychodynamic Therapy. I believe the role of a therapist is to be more than a reflective and empathetic companion in the client’s journey and must also incorporate directive approaches in order to alternate between being a companion and being a leader on that journey. Inherent in this belief is that clients are coming to therapy because they want something different than what they currently have. This can be as simple as a new perspective on a past or current struggle or as complex as a new skill set for managing and overcoming emotional, behavioral, cognitive, relational, or somatic patterns that have arisen in response to emotional distress. My theoretical orientation is rooted in Systems Theory and I utilize interventions from Family Systems Therapy, Internal Family Systems, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, ARC, as well as Somatic and Mindfulness based psychotherapies. I have over 15 years of clinical experience working with adolescents, college students, adults, couples, and families. My experience has shown that change is typically hard work and often requires compassionate and collaborative support in order to build new skills. Hello, my name is Traci Boyle-Galestiantz (she/her). Life, relationships and finding our way can be challenging in 10,000 ways and support with navigating those challenges is something we all need and deserve. I have worked with families and individuals in all stages of life; while working through major or minor transitions, healing from trauma, loneliness, grief and the struggles of personal development. My roles as a social worker have ranged from crisis line counselor, support group facilitator, restraining order advocate, shelter worker, and educator. The theories that most guide my practice are based in a client centered strengths based approach. I am an avid LGBTQ+ ally and care deeply about racial and social justice. I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) since 2007 and deeply appreciate being entrusted with people’s stories, struggles, and triumphs.

Brain science, attachment theory (childhood relationship with our caregivers), and the context of our culture (as it intersects with our identities) are the lenses I use to strengthen your awareness, feel feelings, and heal. Laughter and peace are a necessary part of healing too! I am trained in art therapy, attachment-focused EMDR, Brainspotting, and "parts work," or Internal Family Systems, to work with the limbic area (where trauma is stored) of the brain in order to heal both "big T" and "little t" trauma. Studies have shown that in order to heal trauma and change thoughts/feelings/behavior body and brain based therapies are necessary.
