Therapists for college students near Duke University
Hardworking, ambitious, fucking exhausted. I work with women (18–30) who look like they have it together but are absolutely depleting themselves to stay that way. They’re responsible, creative, used to handling a lot…but they’re tired of overthinking, second-guessing, or feeling like no matter how hard they work, it’s never enough. Some have anxiety, depression, ADHD, or trauma histories. Others just know something feels off, that life feels heavier than it should. Often, they’re great at coping on the outside, which can make it hard to admit they’re struggling at all. But let’s be honest: Appearing “fine” is a full-time job. In therapy, we slow things down on purpose. We look at the patterns you’ve been stuck in — people-pleasing, avoidance, self-criticism — and figure out what’s actually driving them. We work with your nervous system instead of fighting against it. We build practical tools that help you move forward in your life. My style is warm, direct, & honest. I care deeply about my clients and will absolutely challenge you when it matters. I use EMDR, ACT, & DBT skills in ways that are personal and actually useful.

I am Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) trained and offer this service virtually for clients as well as a registered yoga teacher and love incorporating yoga foundations into clinical and body work. As a queer, agnostic person looking to challenge diet culture/anti-fatness, racial discrimination, anti-queer and other justice issues, you'll see this perspective play out in our work together. I find working with those both with similar and different identities to be fulfilling and approach each person with curiosity and empowerment. Counseling is like creating a work of art. It can be messy, beautiful, and transformative, but overall, it is a collaboration between client and therapist. I believe that you are the expert on your life and as such use a person-centered approach leaning into a balance of body, mind, and emotion. Doing so allows me to work with you to identify and reach specific goals, which assist in achieving well-being for emotional, physical and mental health. I enjoy working with a wide array of cultures and lifestyles. I currently offer telehealth sessions and see persons of all ages and backgrounds. I am trained in child and adolescent trauma, adult trauma, EMDR, human sexuality, grief, and somatic therapy, amongst other areas. I have a special focus in women’s trauma, adverse childhood experiences and military trauma, utilizing somatic modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for the treatment of trauma, depression, chronic pain, anxiety, and sexual dysfunction.

Therefore, Suzie believes it is important to incorporate a knowledge of one’s thinking process to overcome a negative feeling.
The students I work best with are often trying to hold everything together while quietly feeling overwhelmed. You may be adjusting to college life, struggling to balance school, work, relationships, and family expectations, or simply wondering why this stage of life feels harder than you expected. I work with students experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, major life changes, and difficulty adjusting to college. You might find yourself overthinking, putting pressure on yourself to succeed, comparing your progress to others, feeling uncertain about your future, or having trouble finding your place. Sometimes, you may not even know exactly what is wrong—you just know you don’t feel like yourself. Therapy can be a space to slow things down, understand what you’re experiencing, and develop healthier ways to manage the pressure. My goal is to help you feel more confident in yourself, better equipped to handle stress, and more connected to the life you want to build.
I am a bilingual (Spanish/English) Licensed Clinical Social Worker. As a veteran, I understand the importance of trust, resilience, and having someone who truly listens without judgment. My approach to therapy is grounded in real-world experience, cultural humility, and a deep commitment to supporting individuals through trauma, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions. I offer a steady, grounded presence to help clients build emotional strength, develop healthier patterns, and move toward a life that feels meaningful and manageable.
Imagine beginning every day feeling energized, confident and ready to take on whatever comes your way. You might feel better about your progress with life goals, be able create meaningful and close relationships, maintain healthier habits, and have a regular sense of pride and accomplishment. You know you have so much potential, but may not know exactly how to reach it. I hope to join you on your journey by providing you with an emotionally safe space where you are able to authentically express yourself as well as feel supported and not judged. My clinical style is active and collaborative and is rooted in CBT, Narrative, and Solution Focused Therapies. I also offer EMDR as well as gender affirming surgery(GAS) letters and immigration evaluations. Ultimately, my intent is to provide you with skills and tools that will promote sustainable personal growth. Though I have worked with a diverse array of populations, most of my experience has been with survivors of traumatic experiences, anxiety/depression, people in recovery from substances, and the LGBTQ community. Anyone looking for self improvement or self exploration in any capacity is also welcome. Contact me today for a free 15 minute consultation.

Panacea Mental Wellness Practice Values P – Person Centered A – Affirming N – Nurturing A – Authentic C – Collaborating E – Empowering A – Accountability Panacea Mental Wellness, PLLC provides an affirming place for folx to create their authentic lives. Together, we focus on clients’ strengths so they can overcome low self-confidence and experience the life they deserve. Whether this is your first time ever in therapy or the millionth therapist you have reached out to, you are taking the time to find the best fit. I’m Dana, and I help folx just like you: ones that have it within them to be true to who they are and just want some support to get there. The clients I work with have dealt with some tough $hit. I help my clients find confidence and self-compassion by equipping them with the tools they need to unmask and live authentically. My clients describe me as making them feel “normal” and that they wish we had met as friends. Together, we will focus on what is important to you. In a world that often feels like it was not made for you, this is a place when you can show up authentically. I know that everyone wants something different in therapy, so I stay flexible and adjust to your needs. At the end of each session, I ask for your feedback so I can make the next session better. I am dedicated to helping people find their true selves again. As someone who is in therapy themself, I recognize the importance of the therapeutic alliance. My background and training as a Certified Peer Support Specialist means I am a human first and foremost. I became a therapist because I wanted to contribute to changing the system by decolonizing it from the inside. I use the privilege that comes with the education I received and research I have done to help you with assessments, accommodation requests, and letters of support in addition to ongoing therapy for individuals, couple/ relationships, families, and groups. You want to know you’re working with someone who “gets” it, right? I get it because in different ways, I’ve lived it myself. I know how tough it can be to feel down and want to get that confidence back. So when we work together, you won’t just get a trained therapist. You’ll get someone who truly understands what you’re going through.
During our first session, you can expect a relaxed, welcoming space where you don’t have to have it all together. I take time to get to know you, understand what’s bringing you to therapy, and explore what you hope to gain from it. We’ll talk about your goals, what’s been challenging, and what “feeling better” might look like for you. My approach is conversational and collaborative. I meet you where you are and move at your pace. By the end of our first session, my goal is for you to feel seen, understood, and more hopeful about your next steps.

Being human can be tough! While experiencing the challenges that life may hold, I believe you deserve to be heard, understood, and accepted. I aim to create a compassionate, non-judgmental space for you to share, explore, heal, and make sense of your story and experiences. As we work together, you may identify aspects of your life that you would like to change or experience differently. We will work together with curiosity to create intentional and meaningful steps towards creating that change in your life. For me, it is a deep honor to be a part of your journey as we navigate life’s challenges. As someone who has been a client, I commend you for the courage and vulnerability it takes to begin looking for a counselor. You have made it this far with the resilience that resides within you, and I believe you deserve the opportunity to experience the benefits that counseling has to offer. As a counselor, I use an integrative approach that is collaborative and relationship-based, values and strengths-focused, and social justice-oriented. My approach is influenced by components of and includes teaching skills from Person-Centered, Acceptance and Commitment, Dialectical Behavioral, and Cognitive Behavioral therapies. Additionally, I practice from a lens that is trauma-informed and acknowledges the influence of systemic marginalization, intersectionality, and social injustices. Topics that I support adults in navigating include but are not limited to adjustment and stress management, LGBTQIA+ identities, identity development, issues related to young adulthood and attending college, career path exploration, interpersonal relationships, anxiety and depression, grief, trauma, shame, and self-compassion. Outside of my work, you might find me enjoying some time outside hiking or walking at the park, hanging out or cooking a meal with my chosen family and friends, playing the Nintendo Switch, laughing at memes or TikToks, or just catching up on tv shows/movies with my partner and our two cats.
