This collaboration not only addresses physical ailments but also recognizes the profound impact mental health has on overall wellness. By bridging the gap between emotional and physical care, psychiatry and primary care create a comprehensive approach, empowering individuals to lead healthier, more balanced lives. I am a licensed psychotherapist utilizing holistic, creative modalities to provide healing that is effective for children, adolescents and adults. I utilize two main modalities in my practice: Expressive Arts Therapy and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). Through these modalities, I empower people who are having difficulty with depression and anxiety due to transitions, low self-esteem, stress, chronic pain, relationship issues, work/school obligations, trauma and grief. Expressive Arts Therapy is an effective way to process difficult emotions by making meaning through the exploration of our creative works. EFT is part of a holistic mind-body movement that works by finding the negative charges in our bodies while simultaneously sending calming signals to decrease our physical and emotional responses. My clients describe me as relatable, comforting, and validating. With compassion and acceptance, I welcome you to join me just as you are.
About me: I have a strong belief in therapy because I've successfully used it. I've had my own personal exploration into suffering and I've made my way out of these fogs by utilizing the support of others. It is my experience that no one lives their best life alone. Connection has the capacity to offer regulation and engender strength. I honor my sense of humanity that allows me to tend and befriend others, and take joy in my sense of playfulness that can bring a smile or a laugh to someone at the just the right moment. About my work: I work through an integrated lens, currently drawing on EFT, neuroscience, mindfulness, and positive psychology to explore how lifestyle, relationships, and early experiences shape our wellbeing. I also use the power of storytelling to help reframe the limiting narratives we carry about ourselves. Lately, I've been doing meaningful work with clients navigating OCD tendencies, using approaches including ERP and ACT. I am also working to expand my expertise through continued education in somatic approaches, chronic illness and premenstrual disorders, to support the full complexity of what my clients carry. My goal is to create a space that feels safe, to help people trust themselves again, and to help them recommit to life — through the big things and the small. About my credentials: I graduated from Lesley University with a MA in Mental Health Counseling in 2018. I am a Massachusetts licensed mental health counselor with experience in a variety of outpatient therapeutic settings. I welcome your questions.
Have you ever felt like you’re doing everything you’re “supposed” to do, but still feel overwhelmed, lost, or unsure of where you fit? Maybe you’re trying to balance classes, work, relationships, family expectations, and your own goals while quietly wondering, “Am I the only one struggling with this?” I work with young adults, including first generation students of diverse backgrounds, who are navigating big transitions and trying to figure out who they are while building the life they want. This may look like feeling stuck, dealing with academic or career stress, struggling with anxiety or burnout, feeling pressure to succeed, or trying to find your place in a new environment. As a bilingual therapist and someone who is first-generation, I understand the challenges of finding yourself while balancing family expectations, culture, and your own goals. Therapy can be a space to explore your identity, build confidence, and create a life that feels authentic to you. Whether you are struggling with stress, perfectionism, relationships, grief, major life changes, or simply feeling like you’re not where you want to be, I provide a supportive space where you can feel understood and develop tools to move forward. You don’t have to have everything figured out to start therapy. Sometimes reaching out is the first step toward understanding yourself better and creating meaningful change.
I'm here to be a support and safe place as you face a time of many life transitions. I often mix a little bit of humor and gentle accountability into sessions. My clients are often seeking support to navigate relationships, identity, and future goals. My multi-state licensure allows for continuity of care even when students are moving between multiple states. Schedule a free consultation on my website today! http://www.calliazimmerman.com/contact
