In my experience as a psychotherapist and psychoanalyst, I've heard many times: "I want to be happy, to feel peaceful inside myself, but I can't seem to get there" or "I feel badly telling my friends and family. I don't want to worry them, and I fear they will get tired of listening to me." There are many reasons people feel stuck in their anxiety, depression, eating disorders, body concerns, phase of life issues or relationship problems, and feel immobilized by them. A supportive therapy relationship can help you feel more at peace, happier, and more self-confident. Psychotherapy is a unique, supportive space where you can address your worries, conflicts and hopes without judgment, understand what's holding you back, and move forward towards lasting results and a happier, more fully lived life. I work with people who are described above My office is between Harvard Square and Central Square, on the Red Line. I look forward to speaking with you soon.

I am a Board-Certified, Harvard-trained psychiatrist in private practice in Cambridge, MA. Most of my work is currently with undergraduate students, graduate students, and professionals. My initial consultation typically involves multiple appointments as I gather information about you and your concerns. Then, I discuss pros and cons of potential next steps, and we work together to form a plan. I see most patients for psychotherapy (talk therapy), and some for a combination of psychotherapy and medication management. My practice involves helping people navigate life transitions. Generally, I find that psychotherapy is the most helpful mode of treatment. I typically see patients weekly, and, not infrequently, for multiple visits each week as we begin our work together. I will recommend medication if I think it can be a helpful part of our plan. At this time, I am not able to offer ongoing medication management to new patients who are working with other local psychotherapists and who might wish to seek out my services solely for medication management reasons. I am an in-network provider with BCBS of Massachusetts HMO and PPO plans. I encourage you to contact your insurer directly if you have questions about your specific insurance plan benefits.

My clinical orientation primarily emphasizes psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy approaches and is rooted in relational and person-centric models. I have advanced training in psychodynamic approaches as a Fellow at the Boston Psychoanalysis Society and Institute. My style is eclectic and I derive techniques from a comprehensive range of approaches, including solution-focused, narrative, multicultural and expressive models of psychotherapy. I recognize that there are cultural limitations inherent to each of these approaches and endeavor to tailor the therapeutic experience to respect clients’ diverse backgrounds. I offer individual psychotherapy to adults of all ages dealing with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, PTSD, grief, major life transitions, relationship concerns, identity-related issues and addiction. I also have specialized experience working with college students, including international students, dealing with adjustment and academic concerns. Having trained in both the United States and India, I am attentive to the intricacies of navigating cross-cultural identities. By integrating insights from both Eastern and Western psychotherapy approaches, my goal is to provide a compassionate and strengths-based environment to foster holistic well-being and empowerment for clients’ lived experience.

Sometimes, when people come to therapy, they’re looking for a solution to something that feels urgent or overwhelming. At other times, people can't put words to what's wrong, but they know that something that doesn't feel right. Whether you're looking for help with anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues, or something else, my goal is to put our heads together to create a space where you feel truly heard and supported in order to find a way forward. I'm trained in English and Spanish in a variety of therapeutic modalities that range from meaning-oriented work and narrative therapy to behavioral techniques, but what's most important to me is that we come together and use pieces of any of those that will be helpful to the person that I'm sitting with. I have a few openings (in-person or virtually). Contact me for a 25-minute free consultation to see if my style would be helpful for you - or to possibly refer you to a colleague. Looking forward to being of service to you!

I am a queer cis white Ashkenazi Jewish woman providing therapy for individuals and people in relationships (such as; couples, poly relationships, siblings, housemates, friends). I have over 15 years' experience working with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities in community health, drop-in centers, schools and private practice settings. My approach aims to provide a space that is welcoming of any issues (there is no right or wrong thing to talk about in therapy). I see therapy as a place to get to know ourselves more and identify our needs as well as how to express them to others. I also see therapy as a place for exploration, of identities, how we think and feel about ourselves, and a place to explore goals. It can be a place to improve handling of anxiety when it comes up, how to communicate boundaries to others, and improve the ability to feel organized and focused. Therapy can support processing of experiences of social stress; like understanding the impact of privilege and marginalization on one's day to day life. And how to support oneself while experiencing it. For people interested in relationship therapy or in relationships; the therapy can provide a place for identifying wants and needs, finding compromise, when necessary, improving communication and growing in one's ability to understand each other and improve navigation of conflict.

If you've been feeling emotionally overwhelmed and it's affecting your sleep, work, or relationships, today is a good day to prioritize your well-being! I offer telehealth sessions throughout Massachusetts and Virginia, and in person walk-and-talk sessions in Charlottesville, VA. I specialize in helping young adults manage stress, anxiety, feelings of isolation, depression, or of not feeling good enough that can accompany being a college student in an academically rigorous environment. If your previous ways of dealing with challenges are not working, you find yourself drinking more than you used to, not sleeping well, or not feeling able to connect with your friends and family, this is a good time to get additional support. I take an active role in helping you sort out the best way to approach your challenges and teach you the foundations of mental health so you get back on track. Together we will explore the connection between how you live and how you feel, and identify the areas that feel out of balance. I take a comprehensive holistic approach to wellness because, for the people I work with, traditional talk therapy is often not enough. Our mental health is impacted by our environment, sleep, physical activity, what we eat, relationships, beliefs, thoughts, and behaviors–and I believe our mental health care should include these elements as components of the whole system. Evidence-based tools we may incorporate include meditation and somatic mind-body practices, techniques to work with thought patterns, interpersonal skills, and lifestyle interventions. Schedule a free 15-minute consultation to discuss if we are a good fit to help you achieve your goals!
