I am a psychiatrist in private practice for over 20 years, treating patients by integrating psychotherapy, psychoanalysis and, when indicated psychopharmacology. As a physician, I am able to evaluate patients with symptoms which may be medical or psychiatric in origin, understanding the mind-body connection. I see a broad range of patients, some suffering from major mental illness to those healthy individuals seeking to learn more about themselves. A major focus of my private practice is working with college and graduate students. I see students as young as seniors in high school and consult to parents of college age students around the country. I am an Affiliated Psychiatrist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Instructor, Harvard Medical School from 1994-2014. I am a Diplomat, American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology re-certified in 2014. I was a staff psychiatrist at Sarah Lawrence College, and more recently, Senior Psychiatric Consultant at Brandeis University from 1997-2012. I believe that every patient is unique, reflecting their development, family history, neuropsychology, traumas, and life experiences. My role is to help the patient develop an integrated personal narrative, exploring unconscious conflicts, understanding the experience of self in relation to others, and to take responsibility, not just for their difficulties, but their strengths as well.

Hello! I strive to create a supportive space where clients can explore and address issues related to their sexual identities, fostering a path toward a healthier and more fulfilled self. Considering treatment/support related to sexual health and satisfaction? My specialties are as follows: Sex Offender Treatment & Problematic Sexual Behaviors; MAP support; Gender Identity; Sexual Trauma; BDSM/Kink; Fetishes; Cross-Dressing; Monogamous and Non-Monogamous Relationships; Body Image; and Compulsive Sexual Behaviors/Pornography use. In regard to style, I'm a warm and engaging therapist who believes that humor and laughter (when appropriate) can be some of the best medicine. I'm honest and direct while also being encouraging and compassionate. Life is hard enough; you need a therapist who can provide you with a safe and judgment-free space to discuss whatever is on your heart and mind.
Wherever you may be at in your journey, I look forward to joining you on your path towards greater mental and emotional well-being. I work with adults to address issues related to chronic pain, substance use, relationship difficulties, anxiety, and depression. I tailor my therapeutic interventions to meet your specific needs, taking a holistic approach to promote self-awareness, as you acquire new skills and refine coping strategies. Life as a young person can be a complex journey, often filled with challenges that leave folks feeling adrift and overwhelmed. If you are someone who is struggling to navigate the intricate web of school/work, family, and relationships, I am here to help. Many college students find themselves feeling stuck, dwelling on the past, or consumed by worries about the future, making it difficult to remain present and truly engage with and take control of their lives and their futures. I meet clients exactly where they are at, offering empathy and understanding, and working collaboratively to promote integration, well-being, and positive change. My approach starts with building a strong relationship, and I draw from a diverse toolkit, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, and psychodynamic therapy, tailoring our sessions to the client's specific needs. Moreover, I have extensive experience working with adolescents and college students.
Striving to balance the demands of modern life is an on-going process. We are ever evolving, discovering new parts of ourselves, facing challenges, confronting health issues, encountering loss, or adjusting to new situations--- it is part of the human condition. At times these demands are too much or too complicated to manage alone. Psychotherapy is both a relationship and a service. Finding a safe, supportive, and comfortable place are just some aspects of the therapist search. I welcome clients to meet with me to decide if my services fit their particular areas of concern. I try to provide a warm, safe and open environment with my clients and believe in a collaborative approach to help find resolution and a better understanding of yourself.
These days, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed — anxious, angry, stuck, or just plain exhausted. If that’s where you are, you’re not alone. And your experience matters. Just because others are struggling too doesn’t make your pain any less real. Maybe your mind won’t stop racing. Maybe you feel out of control, trapped in old patterns, or unsure how to move forward. I’ve worked with many people navigating these same waters — helping them find steadier ground, soften anxiety and anger, and reconnect with their creativity, clarity, and relationships. In therapy, you don’t have to have it all figured out. You don’t have to perform. You just have to show up as you are. I offer a grounded, compassionate space where we move at your pace. You bring what’s real — and together, we explore it with honesty and care. Whether you’re looking for support, growth, or space to breathe, our work is about learning to relate to yourself differently — with more freedom, more awareness, and more trust in your own way forward.
Are you looking for a warm, supportive, and safe space to heal anxiety, depression, ADHD, or deal with a overwhelm, a transition, or relationships? Are you struggling at school because of these issues? Are you worried about your next steps after graduation? I can help you claim the happiness you deserve. If you're ready to be happier, I can help you get the tools you need to create the life you deserve.
I am the mythical therapist who understands gender, trauma, and neurodivergence at the same time. They told you it was impossible, but they were wrong! I’m right here! Instead of teaching you buzzwords and therapyspeak, I can help you build the relational skills to communicate what you feel, want, and need in your own words. I can guide you in exploring identity and building a resilient sense of self. My approach is a fairly eclectic mix of modalities, but always relational and attachment-based. I practice from a neurodiversity lens and am well-versed in understanding and meeting the needs of clients living with autism, ADHD, and other flavors of neurodivergence. I am passionate about helping you better understand your nervous system, to contextualize why you do what you do and figure out what you need. I also know that each person I work with has been shaped not only by their individual history, but by the culture(s) and systems of power that surround them. I see naming and exploring those forces as a liberatory and necessary part of therapy. When I’m not seeing clients, I may be found spending time with friends, hiking or camping, making pottery, hanging out with my dog, reading, playing video games, or crocheting. In terms of social location, I am a white queer transmasculine/genderqueer millennial and have lived experience with neurodivergence.

Welcome! I am a dual Board Certified Nurse Practitioner (psychiatry mental health and Family medicine) I began my career as a Cardiac Intensive Care nurse at a major teaching hospital in New York City. I have 35+ years of experience in nursing and a wealth of experience in almost all areas of mental health. I manage and treat a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety disorders, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and bipolar illness. Whether you are interested in finding a medication prescriber who can continue a treatment regimen that is already working well or seeking psychiatric services for the first time, I am excited to work with you to achieve your goals. Many people struggle alone for months or years with symptoms of anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, or other mental health problems. Reaching out for help is a crucial, courageous first step to improving mental wellness. In my practice, I prescribe medications to treat your symptoms when appropriate and safe. Although, I never solely rely on psychiatric medications as a complete fix. I utilize other treatment modalities as well (nutrition modification, sleep hygiene, and physical fitness). The Mind-Body connection is at the core of my treatment plan. I draw from my extensive background in internal medicine and years of psychiatric experience to inform my treatment decisions. We can work together to improve your quality of life. Please email me if you are interested in scheduling an intake appointment.
