Therapists for college students near 02467
Life has a way of surprising us — a loss, a betrayal, a diagnosis, or a path that no longer feels right. In these moments, it’s easy to feel unsteady or unsure how to move forward. I specialize in working with college students and young adults who are navigating these turning points and trying to find their footing again. With over 15 years of experience in counseling settings at Harvard and MIT, I offer a warm, supportive space where you can slow down, reflect, and feel understood. My approach is both insight-oriented and practical — helping you make sense of your experiences while building tools for meaningful change. Many of my clients are high-achieving individuals — often children of immigrants, or professionals in higher education and STEM — who appear put-together on the outside while quietly carrying stress, grief, or a sense that something isn’t quite working. If that sounds like you, I can help. Let's get started!
I am a culturally sensitive mental health counselor with long years of college teaching experience. I have been working with international students and immigrant families for 12 years in culturally diverse communities. My clients and colleagues describe me as a warm, intuitive, creative and culturally sensitive professional with a good sense of humor. I have been approaching my students and clients as storytellers and feeling fortunate to be part of their narratives. I love helping young adults to cope with social, emotional, psychological and academic issues and supporting them to gain control and feel happy within their lives.
Sandstone Counseling works with adolescents and adults navigating perfectionism, relationship stress, and performance pressure — especially when things look “fine” on the outside. We specialize in challenges with disordered eating, relationships, and anxiety. You’re sick of constantly thinking about your body, what you ate today, your workout, whether that new coworker actually likes you, if you’ll ever find the right partner…the list is never-ending. Therapy can help you understand these patterns and decide how you want to respond — rather than feeling controlled by them. We work with folks (16+) of all genders to slow down, build more flexibility, and make choices that move them closer to their goals.
I specialize in working with teens, college students, and young adults who are struggling to connect with their authentic selves. My clients often present with relational conflicts, low self-worth, anxiety, or attachment trauma. My approach is relaxed and relational, combining psychodynamic and strengths based methods to go beyond quick fixes to help clients identify root causes that may be limiting their personal growth or contributing to emotional distress. As a therapist, I believe that healing begins in the context of a safe, attuned relationship. I work with clients to build a deep and secure therapeutic connection - one rooted in trust and emotional safety. I have experience working in various mental health settings, including community mental health, hospitals, colleges, and alternative school placements. Above all, I’m human - both in and out of the therapy room. I show up as my full, authentic self, and I invite my clients to do the same. If you are seeking relational and supportive therapy, I would love to connect!

It can feel overwhelming to be proactive about making positive changes in our lives. Everyone has their own complicated life circumstances related to school, family, work, relationships, and mental and spiritual well being. Therapy can be an essential tool to work to un-complicate these circumstances and focus on making happiness and wellness a daily priority. When we feel overwhelmed with worry or that it's impossible to accomplish daily tasks we feel powerless. I have been in this field for over 15 years and can provide a supportive and empathic environment in which we can work together on specific goals and changes for your life. My experience with issues such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, trauma, and parenting allow me to help you identify obstacles to change and move forward in improving your overall mental health. I am both a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and a Certified School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor. Entering therapy can be daunting but I will provide a relaxed atmosphere for you to feel empowered and motivated to make real improvements in your life. I utilize a variety of treatment modalities to ensure that we are working towards the best possible solutions for your specific needs.
When people come to treatment with problems, it is important to remember that they are trying to cope with them in the best way they can. With that in mind, I offer a reflective and engaging partnership with my clients, working toward the goal of helping them to be autonomous, authentic and compassionate in a world that can be extremely stressful. Although my work is solidly grounded in psychodynamic, cognitive/learning, and systems theories, my approach is client-centered, practical and strengths-based. I bring honesty, warmth, and humor to the therapy relationship. I am LGBTQ affirmative and invested in doing cross-cultural therapy which is culturally sensitive. I have a dog, Bracket, who works with me, and I have been doing AAT since 2002. There is a growing body of research which suggests that AAT (Animal-Assisted Therapy) can be helpful with a range of diagnoses, including Depression, PTSD, and Autistic Spectrum. Many therapists know little about online games such as World of Warcraft and Second Life. They may dismiss it as unimportant, or assume it is a problem. I am a gamer-affirmative therapist, meaning I’m more interested in understanding your in-world experience and activity than pathologizing it.
Mary Kate Little, LICSW has been a clinical social worker and therapist since 2002 and has enjoyed working with a variety of clients. Mary Kate utilizes a range of evidence-based approaches and techniques to help clients figure out the next steps on their paths. She considers it a privilege and an honor to work with individuals on issues of mental health and personal growth.

My wide range of clinical experiences allow me to help my patients move through treatment with a sense of energy and a feeling that their strengths are both appreciated and enhanced throughout the treatment process. This close relationship allows them to open-up and identify a pathway forward in their life that is meaningful, clear, and solid. My therapeutic perspective is based on growing your strengths and building new skills that you haven’t yet recognized to address life stressors and challenges. I tailor my approach to the individual needs of each client and welcome feedback. As the expert on your own life, it’s important to know what’s working for you and what needs improvement so that we can effectively address issues important to you and meet goals together. I operate from a non-judgmental perspective and encourage clients to share the good, the bad, and the messy without fear of not meeting expectations.
About my practice: I strive to offer clients with a warm and collaborative environment to help them cope with issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, academic/job-related stress, chronic health concerns (including navigating complex medical systems), and life transitions. I understand that people are doing the best they can, while simultaneously wanting to change. While I enjoy working with people from all backgrounds, many people who seek me out identify as people of color and/or have inter-racial or trans-national families. In addition, I frequently see clients with diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. I help clients consider ways to draw upon existing strengths as they cope with various forms of marginalization. My approach: My style is collaborative, and I integrate multiple approaches, depending on a client's needs and preferences. I draw from psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness-based therapies. I help clients consider their patterns of relating to themselves and others that are leaving them feeling stuck. In addition, I offer clients skills to shift their relationship with distressing thoughts and feelings, so they can better engage in their lives. Fees: About me: After earning a master's degree in Human Development at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, I completed my doctoral studies at University of Massachusetts Boston. My postdoctoral training at McLean Hospital, a Harvard-affiliated psychiatric hospital, focused on exposure therapy for anxiety disorders.
