Therapists for college students near Denver, CO
Hi, I am Robbie, a holistic wilderness therapist here to guide you on your personal therapeutic journey. I started rituals as an expression of the sacred process involved in healing. Each step you take towards becoming your best self is something to be honored. Life can be extremely challenging but if we have rituals and assistance along the way, the journey seems more inviting and more alive. Let's face it, we are constantly changing just like nature changes from season to season. If we become more aware of our changes and give them the space for expression, I feel we transition in a way that feels fluid and organic. Working with a therapist takes a lot of courage, I imagine things haven't been easy for you. Maybe it's a big life transition, anxiety that prevents you from taking action, a breakup/divorce, or you're ready for a new career. Having guidance and support can go such a long way in helping you to get to your destination of what you want most for yourself in life. By working with me at Rituals you will begin building a deeper connection with yourself and life all around you. I am here to support you and believe you have all that you need within. May this journey together help you remember your truth and bring you the nourishment to keep growing.
Are you struggling with feelings of disconnection and isolation? Are you too self-critical or perfectionistic and want to work on your self-esteem and sense of self? Do you want to learn how to let go, have fun, and live in the moment? Do you want to get more in touch with your playful and creative inner child? Does the idea of doing improv comedy make you feel nervous, but you’re intrigued? Do you like to laugh? Within a small, supportive group of 4-7 people that meets for eight weeks, you will learn how to be more compassionate towards yourself so that you can feel calmer and more connected to other people, more often! You will practice your self-compassion skills in real-time through tailored improv comedy exercises that are designed to support you on the path toward increasing your self-acceptance and self-confidence. At its core, improv comedy helps you to take risks, make mistakes, and not take yourself so seriously. We will laugh a lot : ) Past clients have said… “I always felt nervous to go, but felt like something had been released after each session." “I love the space to talk about what we are dealing with. I have never been actually excited to go to therapy until finding this group.” "The play and improv was beneficial for my perfectionism because I got to experience just diving into things." "I loved connecting with people who I felt really understood me.” “I am forever changed!”

I believe that therapy can help us to move toward greater self-understanding, empowerment, and fulfillment. I strive to create a supportive therapeutic space in which you and I can collaboratively process through thoughts, feelings, and experiences with openness and compassion. So often societal messages and stigmas can cause us to view our behaviors with shame and judgment, which can lead us to feel even more stuck. My goal is to support you in slowing down, shifting toward curiosity and compassion, and feeling empowered to make the changes that you seek. Hello! I'm Elsie, and I understand the power of human connection, especially when things feel tough. I work with people navigating life changes, body image struggles, relationship issues, anxiety, and depression. I remember clearly the complexities and challenges of college life and would be honored to support you during this unique era of yours.
I aim to guide clients in discovering their patterns and getting off autopilot to begin living a life they choose! I am strongly connected with non-traditional lifestyles and work to cultivate a safe place for all people, most frequently working with clients in queer, non-monogamous, & kink relationships. Most of my clients are wanting to work on issues mostly unrelated to but within the context of these communities and lifestyles, and are tired of having to spend so much time explaining the context to therapists unfamiliar with their world. I also work with folks looking to explore these aspects of themselves for the first time. Growing up, my father's Navy career caused our family to move every 0.5-2.5 years. Since transition was my constant, I developed unique insight into the complex intersection and paradox of excitement, anxiety, fear, resistance, confidence, insecurity, love, and hate that can all be felt simultaneously during times of major change. This is why I love working with college students and helping them to navigate experiences such as: being away from home and re-configuring family relationships; exploring new friendships and romantic relationships; discovering their life path(s); learning a larger variety of ways to cope, communicate, and relate to themselves and the world; and diving more deeply into issues related to identity (e.g. sexuality, gender, higher consciousness, vocation, etc.). I tailor my approach with each of my clients, but primarily utilize mindfulness, experiential activities, and somatic techniques (i.e. deepening the relationship and communication between your mind and body).
As an openly queer, neurodivergent, kinky, and non-monogamous therapist with 12 years of experience, I provide a deeply affirming, non-judgmental space for alternative relationship dynamics and sex-positive lifestyles. My approach is practical and structured, specializing in complex trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, and relational concerns. I am Level 3 Trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, fully trained in EMDR, and utilize concrete tools from DBT and CBT to help clients break through stuck core beliefs, manage triggers, and foster authentic self-acceptance.
“Hey there, I’m Brandon! I conceptualize therapy not as a static moment in time, but as an active, winding journey. I utilize Narrative and Somatic Therapies to challenge problematic stories we tell ourselves and rewrite our roles in them, learning how to live presently and understand emotion, especially as it exists within our bodies. Additionally, I specialize in trauma work with Brainspotting and Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to heal and integrate adverse experiences. My joy has been in working with multi-racial/cultural clients, the LGBT+ community, and other adults dealing with life transition! The individual who usually finds the most growth with me is someone who is ready to enact positive, healthy change in their life and build/foster beneficial relationships. My client can rely on me to challenge thoughts and behaviors that no longer serve, but especially to support, encourage, and be a safe place to land!”

As a therapist specializing in warm, person-centered care, I help teens, adults, and seniors explore their inner world and navigate life's challenges with greater clarity and self-compassion. With a foundation in psychodynamic therapy and trauma-informed care, my approach is grounded in insight-oriented work that helps you make sense of difficult emotions, identify patterns, and understand the deeper connections between your past and present. Healing happens through connection, self-exploration, and genuine insight, and that belief shapes everything about how we work together. As your collaborator in this process, I look forward to supporting your growth. Getting to the heart of who you are and what you carry is something I'm genuinely passionate about, and, together, we'll draw on your strengths to empower you toward positive change and new perspectives. In our sessions, you can expect grounded, warm, and open environment where there is plenty of space to process whatever is most important to you. Through free association, deep listening, and co-regulation, we work together to help you reconnect with yourself and gain insight into the patterns that may be shaping your experience, often beneath the surface. My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by my own lived experience as a first-generation Palestinian navigating cultural differences alongside mental health. Those personal experiences shaped my lens of therapy, deepening my commitment to this work and the ways in which I approach therapy. Every session is a judgment-free, culturally informed space, and I bring an open-minded, expansive perspective to each one. Whatever your background or story, you deserve care that honors who you are. Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy a wide range of activities that keep my mind and body active. You'll often find me crocheting, knitting, going on walks, practicing yoga, learning Spanish, or spending time with my two cats, Miko and Moose.
I have been a licensed psychologist for the last 27 years. I work from Psychodynamic (self-psychology/intersubjective/relational), Cognitive-Behavioral, and Systems perspectives, all of which I consider integral to effective work with clients. I also am certified in Therapeutic Assessment, which is using psychological testing to help clients get unstuck and to achieve the insights they seek (therapeuticassessment.com). In addition to my private practice, I was Clinical Professor in the Graduate School of Professional Psychology at the University of Denver for the past 25 years. I retired from the university at the end of 2023 with the Emeritus distinction.
Feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or disconnected? You’re not alone and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. I work best with college and graduate students who are carrying a lot on their shoulders, even if it doesn’t always show on the outside. Many of the students I support are struggling with anxiety, stress, or burnout. They may be navigating big life transitions like starting college, transferring, or getting close to graduation. Some are dealing with family stress, relationship challenges, or attachment issues. Others are carrying the impact of past trauma or loss. Many feel disconnected from themselves and unsure of who they are or what direction they want to take. You might look high-functioning on the outside but feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or numb on the inside. You may be the one everyone depends on, yet you rarely feel supported yourself. If that sounds like you, you’re in the right place. My approach is warm, grounded, and trauma-informed. That means we go at your pace, focus on helping your nervous system feel safer, and work on real-life tools you can actually use between sessions. You do not need to have the right words or a clear goal before starting. Showing up as you are is enough. If you are a student who wants to feel more steady, more connected, and more like yourself again, I would love to support you.
When things get rough, or depression, anxiety or just confusion sinks it, sometimes you simply need someone to talk to. At Grace in Balance, we get it. And we are here to help you process how and what you feel. If not now, when?
