Sarah Whalen, Psy.D.
*** I am offering options for both in-person and teletherapy sessions ***
I am a licensed psychologist currently in private practice. Prior to private practice, I worked in college counseling settings, a center for the treatment of substance use disorders, and at the Center for Psychotherapy Research at The University of Pennsylvania. As a result of these experiences, I work well with clients with a wide range of concerns and particularly like working with college students.
I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel free to share whatever is concerning you and start working towards living a more fulfilling life. My approach to therapy is collaborative. We can work together to explore your needs and goals for treatment. Rather than using a one-size fits all approach, I use an integrative approach to treatment, incorporating several theoretical perspectives and techniques to meet your unique needs. My work is informed by psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) therapies.
I work with individuals, who are struggling with a variety issues, including:
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Relationship Problems
• Life Transitions
• Social Anxiety
• Adjustment Difficulties
• Substance Abuse
• Trauma
• ADHD
• Chronic Pain
• OCD
• Low Self-esteem
• Loneliness
• Anger Issues
• Infertility
• Divorce
• Life Coaching
• Sports Performance
Whatever is troubling you, I am available to discuss treatment options and can work with you to clarify and address your concerns. If I do not feel that my services would be helpful, I can offer referral information for another professional who might better meet your needs.
